As romance blooms between two children combating most cancers, Kizie and Manny, they stay it up to the fullest, despite the inevitable tragedy looming over them. ‘Dil Bechara’ is the Hindi film adaptation of John Green’s popular 2012 novel, 'The Fault in Our Stars'. In truth, the book’s Hollywood variation with the same name in 2016 met with a lot critical acclaim. ‘Dil Bechara’ sets itself in Jamshedpur and introduces us to the Basu circle of relatives. Kizie Basu (Sanjana Sanghi) suffers from thyroid most cancers, which has now affected her lungs, requiring her to be on oxygen help nearly all of the time. With rock stable guide from her mother and father, Kizie takes life as it comes, even taking the awful, each day more than one sanatorium visits in her stride. She meets Immanuel Rajkumar Junior or Manny (Sushant Singh Rajput) in college at the start and later at a cancer support institution. And given her quiet, introvert nature, before everything, she is cautious of his excessive power, exuberance and cockiness. Manny has his personal tale – he has survived osteosarcoma and his most cancers is currently in remission.

The  strike up a beautiful bond as a smitten Manny manages to wriggle his manner into her heart, despite Kizie attempting difficult to avoid a heartbreak for him, eventually. Their cutesy chemistry grows on you as they zip through the lanes of Jamshedpur in his scooter. And additionally as they shoot a Bhojpuri movie together for Manny's near pal, Jagdish Pandey (Sahil Vaid), whose dream is to direct a movie earlier than dropping his eyesight to most cancers. When Manny comes to a decision to go all out to meet Kizie’s lengthy status wish of assembly her preferred musician, Abhimanyu Vaid (Saif Ali Khan), she realises she has fallen for him, too. But little does she know that a tragic twist within the story awaits her.

Given its poignant premise, ‘Dil Bechara’ makes for a completely emotional watch. Especially within the shape of Manny’s character who wants to actually seize every moment of the day.

Sushant Singh Rajput, navigating the intensity of his man or woman, shines with a stellar overall performance that is sensitive, intense, lively and vulnerable. It is with a heavy heart that one watches him effortlessly get beneath the pores and skin of his person and exude a herbal attraction. With this, the first-class actor provides to his legacy of commendable work in a brief span of time. And watch out for his super movements in the one-shot name music, choreographed by Farah Khan.

Sanjana Sanghi who makes her debut in a leading position offers an confident, assured performance. The assisting cast, mainly Swastika Mukherjee and Saswata Chatterjee as Kizie's parents are remarkable and Saif Ali Khan in a cameo is noteworthy. The soundtrack (composed by using A.R. Rahman and lyrics by using Amitabh Bhattacharya) is peppered with a few exceptional, foot-tapping tune – particularly Khulke Jeene Ka, Taare Ginn and the name tune, Dil Bechara. The chemistry between the lead pair is clean to look at, in particular in the beautifully shot (cinematography via Satyajit Pande) sequences in Paris.

Director Mukesh Chhabra and writers Suprotim Sengupta and Shashank Khaitan make sure the narrative flows, taking you through a few soft, touching moments among Kizie and Manny and Kizie and her dad and mom. And be organized for a few heartbreaking scenes and dialogues as a way to absolutely convey you to tears.

Even even though the movie’s spirit and breezy tempo triumphs, the depression that augurs it, will leave you in a puddle of emotions and with a heavy lump to your throat because the quit credits roll. ‘Dil Bechara’ will always be remembered as Sushant Singh Rajput’s swan tune.
